The Five Things You Need To Know Today (October 9)

1. Morsi Trial Will Begin November 4- The trial of deposed Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi will begin November 4. The former president faces charges of inciting the murder of protesters. Morsi will stand trail with 14 additional defendants accused of killing protesters outside the presidential palace.

2. Bus Drivers Report To Work In Boston- Boston bus drivers will return to work this morning after a surprise strike yesterday. Parents have been asked to expect delays and late buses and to have contingency plans.

3. Yellen Tapped To Be Next Fed Chair- President Barack Obama has tapped Vice Chairwoman Janet Yellen to be the next chairman of the Federal Reserve. Yellen will need to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate after Ben Bernake’s term is up on January 31.

4. Kanye West To Appear On Jimmy Kimmel- Kanye West will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this evening after the comedian poked fun at an interview West gave to the BBC Radio. West responded to Kimmel’s mockery with a bunch of negative tweets.

5. Boston Red Sox Advance- The Boston Red Sox defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 and will advance to the next round of the MLB Playoffs. The Red Sox will face either the Oakland Athletics or the Detroit Tigers.
