Five Underrated Summer James For 2013

Note this post can be originally found at MySocialList. I write for them every Monday.

Even though the summer of 2013 will be forever musically as the year “Get Lucky,” “Blurred Lines” and the “I Don’t Care (I Love It)” were banged into our heads continually for three months, there are songs that we’ll have a singular relationship with. Songs that we didn’t hear on the radio, songs we didn’t hear at the club.

There are songs that will instead bring up back to a definitive point in our lives. Songs that remind us of that time we walked around the block REAL HOTBOY before heading back to the bar where the music “magically” sounded better. There will be songs that will transport us back to the beach or even music signifying that time the air conditioning broke down for three days.

The following songs aren’t ones that have mainstream consensus, but have to be considered underrated summer jams of 2013.

1. HAIM- The Wire

You could probably call HAIM’s summer successful. The three sisters and Dash Hutton broke through at the Governors Ball Music Festival, Glastonbury and Lollapalooza. Their latest is so catchy, I’m surprised how little radio play it’s getting.

2. Chvrches- Now Is Not The Time

If HAIM is a throwback to cool California classic rock, Chvrches is more like throwback synth pop from the 80s.

3. A$AP Rocky- F*ckin Problems (feat. Drake, 2Chainz & Kendrick Lamar)

Girl, I’m Kendrick Lamar, A.K.A. Benz is to me just a car.

4. Joey Bada$$- Satellite (feat. Chuck Stranger, Kirk Knight & Dessy Hinds)

Joey Bada$$’s Summer Knights IS the mixtape of the summer.

5. Disclosure- Latch (feat. Sam Smith)

My personal song of the summer.
