The Five Things You Need To Know Today (July 15)

1. Protests Erupt From Zimmerman- As George Zimmerman was found innocent of killing Trayvon Martin on Saturday, protests disagreeing with the decision erupted nationwide, finding focus in Florida, New York City and Los Angeles.

2. Former Islamic Party Head Sentenced to 90 years- A Bangladesh war tribunal sentenced a 91 year old, former Islamic Party head to 90 years in prison yesterday. Ghulam Azam, was convicted “on all five major counts against him, including murder, conspiracy and incitement and complicity to commit genocide.”

3. Citigroup Profit Rises- Citigroup reported a second quarter increase of $42 million today. The increase represents a 42 percent increase from the same time last year.

4. MLB All-Star Break Begins- Even though it might have started yesterday with the Futures Game, the MLB All-Star festivities really kick off today at CitiField with the home run derby. Tomorrow the game will be played.

5. RIP Cory Monteith- Cory Monteith, star of the show Glee was found dead in his Vancover, Canada hotel room Sunday morning. No foul play is suspected and the cause of death is unknown.
