The Five Things You Need To Know Today (July 11)

1. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Pleads Not Guilty- In a Boston courtroom yesterday, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev pleaded “not guilty” to over 30 charges, tying his involvement to the Boston Marathon bombings. Families of 30 victims were in attendance in addition to “supporters” of Tsarnaev.

2. Nelson Mandela Doing Better- Nelson Mandela, the national hero, whose 95th birthday is on July 18th, remains in critical but “stable” according to South African President Jacob Zuma. A recurring lung infection has had Mandela in the hospital four times in the past six months.

3. Facebook Unveiling Tools For Instagram- Facebook has begun rolling out new features for Instagram that will allow users to embed photos and videos from others blogs and websites.

4. Adam Lambert Joining Glee- Former American Idol contestant and recording artists is set to join the Fox show Glee according to the show’s creator Ryan Murphy. There is no word yet on what role he will be playing.

5. Jay-Z Looks to Sign Cuban Players– On the heels of releasing a new album and performing “Picasso Baby” for six hours, Jay-Z has now set his sites on signing Cuban stars Yasiel Puig and Yoenis Cespedes to his new sports agency.
