Where Monday through Thursday I’ll be focusing on with an artist/theme/genre of music, Fridays are for posting songs you might have missed in new releases.
1. Mayer Hawthorne- Reach Out Richard
Mayer Hawthorne sounds like a motown version of John Legend, but is actually a white guy from Detroit. His new album Where Does This Door Go, is set for July 16th release. This song is produced by Pharrell, who is having a busy summer guesting on songs with Daft Punk and Robin Thicke.
2. Pusha T- Who I Am (feat. 2 Chainz and Big Sean)
Pusha T teams up with 2 Chainz and Big Sean for the newest song off of My Name is My Name. The track is produced by Kanye West.
3. Schoolboy Q (feat. Kendrick Lamar)
Black Hippy cohorts join forces for “Collard Greens.” Nice to see Kendrick Lamar giving his buddies some help after where he’s made it to.
4. Neko Case- Man
We haven’t really heard a ton from Neko Case, since Fox Confessor Brings the Flood, but she has recently announced a new (and long titled) album, The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You. The album is set for a Fall release.
5. Washed Out- It Feels Alright
Washed Out is synthy, electronic pop. In his new song, “It Feels Alright,” Ernest Greene continues in psychedelic electronic pop music. His new album is due out this August.
