The Five Things You Need To Know Today (June 12)

1. Chaos Reigns During Turkish Protests- At Istanbul’s Taksim Square, protests turned into riots as the Turkish people protested their government. According to the Turkish Medical Association, a minimum of 2,500 people were injured. 130 people were shot with plastic bullets and seventy people suffered severe head trauma.

2. Wildfires Savage Colorado- Four wildfires are burning are currently burning across Colorado this week forcing thousands to evacuate. One prison with 900 inmates was also forced to evacuate. One Black Forest Fire, has destroyed forty homes.

3. Tech Giants Want To Reveal Data Requests- After the news last week that Verizon has given phone records of it’s customers, Google, Facebook and Microsoft has asked the government permission to reveal requests for classified material.

4. ACLU Sues Obama Administration- The American Civil Liberties Union has sued the Obama administration for violating the rights of Americans. “The program goes far beyond even the permissive limits set by the Patriot Act and represents a gross infringement of the freedom of association and the right to privacy,” said Jameel Jaffer, the ACLU’s deputy legal director.

5. 2 Chainz Arrested- Hip-hop artist 2 Chainz was arrested for weed and promethazine at LAX yesterday. Earlier this week, he was robbed at gunpoint.
