The Five Things You Need To Know Today (May 20)

1. Tornadoes Slam the Great Plains- Early Sunday evening, a severe tornado system swept through the Midwest including the states Kansas, Oklahoma and Iowa. So far one person has been reportedly killed in Shawnee, Okla.

2. Syrian Troop Attack Rebel Forces- Syrian government troops backed by Lebanese Hezbollah militants have attacked the rebel held town of Qusair. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 52 people were killed and 48 people were injured.

3. Yahoo! Acquires Tumblr-  First Facebook bought Instagram and then they acquired a GPS crowd sourcing service. Now Yahoo! has entered into the game by buying Tumblr for $1.1 billion. The blog company is six years old generates little profit. 

4. Star Trek: Into Darkness Disappoints Studio-  Even though Star Trek: Into Darkness topped the number on spot at the box office with $70. 6 million, it didn’t quite reach the heights the studio hoped for. It’s predecessor opened with $75.2 million.

5. There IS A Powerball Winner- This week’s Powerball lottery was huge sum of $600 million, meaning the prize would be $376.9 million. A winning ticket has been sold out of a Publix in Florida. The winner has yet to step for forward.
