Jodi Arias Convicted of First Degree Murder- Jodi Arias, “the current Casey Anthony,” has been convicted of first degree murder of killing her boyfriend Travis Alexander in June 2008. Arias will return to court on Thursday for sentencing. She may face the death penalty.

Bangladesh Factory Fire Kills Eight- A week after a building collapse in Bangladesh claimed more than 900 lives, a fire blazed through a garment factory in Bangladesh killing eight. “Given the long record of worker deaths in factories, this [Rana Plaza] tragedy  was sadly predictable,” said Brad Adams, Asia director at Human  Rights Watch (HRW) to Time Magazine.

Stephen Hawking Boycotts Israeli Conference- UK Cosmologist Stephen Hawking has boycotted a major Israeli conference in support of an academic boycott of the conference. Pro-Palestinians organizers said he wrote to them saying he had planned to criticize the government.

Facebook Looking to Buy Waze- Facebook is considering buying GPS service Waze for $1 billion. Waze uses crowdsourcing to produce turn-by-turn navigation. Facebook has recently spent $1 billion on Instagram and Snaptu for $70 billion.

Fox Orders Five Comedies- TV upfronts season is in full force where channels present to advertisers their plans for the summer seasons. Fox has ordered new shows from Seth McFarlane, “Dads,” “Enlisted,” “Surviving Jack,” “Us vs. Them” and “Brooklyn.”
