Five Mos Def Songs You Should Hear Right Now

Mos Def is a truly a renaissance man. He’s an actor, writer, musician, rap star, activist and probably several other thousand things. Now known as “Yasin Bey,” Bey hasn’t released an album in a couple of years, but maybe this post will spur him on!

1. Mos Def- Mathematics

Back when hip-hop artist didn’t run their labels and couldn’t just release songs when they wanted to, rappers had a very love/hate relationship. Just see A Tribe Called Quest’s, Industry rule number four thousand and eighty, / Record company people are shady. On “Mathematics,” Mos Def takes record executives to ask as he explains how record deals are broken down.

2. Mos Def- Brooklyn

Cuz it’s the B-the-R-the-O-the-O-K-L-Y-N is the place where I stay.

3. Mos Def and Talib Kweli- Definition

Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Blackstar. They only released one album, but it is clearly classic material.

4. Mos Def- Auditorium (feat. Slick Rick)

Some people think that Mos Def has dropped off in recent years, but I think he is still just as awesome, but a bit different. Hear he teams up with another hip-hop legend, Slick Rick.

5. Mos Def- The Panties

This song is just silly.
