R.I.P.D. (Release Date: July 19, 2013)
R.I.P.D. stars Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds as undead police officers who hunts down dead criminals trying to get by in the human world. This has summer movie blockbuster and “we’re trying to franchise this film” written all over it. It also looks like a mix of Ghostbuster, Men in Black and buddy-cop comedy.
The Internship (Release Date: June 7, 2013)
The Internship reunites Wedding Crashers Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson as fired retail executives that take an internship at Google. It looks great. Supporting performances include John Goodman, Max Minghella, B.J. Novak and Aasif Mandvi. Also, note the Patrick Stewart cameo. Awesome.
The Way, Way Back (Release Date: July 5, 2013)
From the studio that brought us Little Miss Sunshine and Juno, comes the story of a 14 year-old who goes to live at his overbearing stepfather’s (Steve Carrell) beach house for the summer where he meets some crazy characters at a theme park and starts to come into his own. The star-studded cast includes Allison Janney, Toni Collette, Rob Corddry, Maya Rudolph, Amanda Peet and Sam Rockwell. It was written and directed by Jim Rash (the guy who plays the dean in Community and Nat Faxon).
Man of Steel (Release Date: June 14 2013)
Superman is back.
This is the End (Release Date: June 12 2013)
The world is ending the same weekend Seth Rogen is having a huge party with all his friends. I did say that The Way, Way Back, was star-studded but This is the End makes The Way, Way Back look like Cloverfield. The cast includes James Franco, Danny McBride, Michael Cera, Emma Watson (yes, Hermione), Craig Robinson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jonah Hill, Rihanna, the Backstreet Boys, Mindy Kaling, Jason Segel and many, many more.
