New President of Venezuela- Following the abrupt death of Hugo Chávez on March 5th, Nicolás Maduro, “heir” to Chavez has won the election to become the next president of Venezuela. His opponent Henrique Capriles Radonski was a strong opponent of Chávez. Maduro defeated Capriles by only 1.5%.

Dish Network Trying to Acquire Sprint- Dish, the satellite television giant has made a $25.5 billion bid to acquire Sprint, the telecommunication company. The offer tops another proposal submitted by the Japanese company Softbank.

Coachella Week One is Over- Week One of Coachella is over. Located in the desert in Southern California, the festival this year included headliners, The Stone Roses, Phoenix, Blur and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Some highlights were R. Adam Scott Wins Masters- Adam Scott has becomes the first Australian to win the coveted green jacket at the Masters tournament in Augusta, Ga. Scott was 9 under par the entire weekend and defeated Argentinian Angel Cabrera in a playoff/
